Do you want to pass the CLEP Humanities exam? That’s a smart choice since this CLEP is worth six college credits at most universities. That’s 5% of your college degree with one CLEP test! After all, who wants to spend 32 weeks in class when you can do the same thing in 2 or 3 weeks of CLEP
So, here’s what you need to know before passing this CLEP:
It really helps if you can distinguish between different types of art and scuplture from various artistic periods dating back to Ancient Egypt. For example, you should be able to tell the difference between a painting from the Old Masters and one from an Impressionist like Renoir.
They also throw in some architecture in the Humanities CLEP. Nothing deep but it would be good to be able to tell the difference between a Roman building and one built in the Greek style.
Since the CLEP Humanities is really broad and covers two college courses, there’s a lot of random stuff related to humanities courses. It would even be good to know some music notations, like different types of notes and symbols like the staff and treble clef.
But when it comes to literature, your knowledge for the CLEP Humanities exam has to be a bit specialized. Literature comprises 50% of the questions you’ll encounter and cover passages from Ancient Greek drama to modern prose and everything in between. You’ll also see some questions on symbolism within literature, very similar to the CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature test.
