Pass the CLEP Western Civilization II Test
When I was preparing to take the CLEP Western Civilization II exam, I thought it would focus on wars, battles, and famous people like the CLEP Western Civilization I exam does. Not so, as I found out.

Make sure you’re familiar with the major political movements from the late 1600s to the twentieth century. There aren’t that many of them so don’t worry about learning them.
Schools of philosophy and philosophers. You might need to know the difference, for example, between Hobbes’ Leviathan and John Locke’s views on personal liberty. What’s the gist of Rouseau’s idea of the social contract? All of these and more are valid questions that could appear on the CLEP Western Civilization II exam.
Major events in Western history. A good chunk of the exam could contain detailed questions about the French Revolution, Napoleon’s heroics, and the wars that plagued Europe up through the twentieth century.
