CLEP Study Tip: Don’t Stop Studying Before the Test!

This might seem like an obvious tip but many students let their studies slack off if they feel they are ready. This is very natural since we tend to take a break after we feel like we’ve accomplished something. Whenever I studied for my tests I would study until I had mastered all of the subject material and then I would schedule the test. I didn’t have access to SpeedyPrep for my CLEP tests, looking back I wish I had.

Every now and then I would call in to the testing center and they wouldn’t have any testing availabilities for a week or two so I would just schedule my test for the soonest time slot available and wait in anticipation. The problem was that, in some cases, I would stop studying. Since I knew I had mastered the material it didn’t seem necessary to continue studying so I would take a two week break before the test. Well this wasn’t always the smartest thing to do.

There were several instances where I went in and the break I had taken seemed to have relaxed my brain to the extent to where it hindered my ability to concentrate on the questions being asked.

If you fail a CLEP test you have to wait 6 months to take that same CLEP again. There is no reason to break from studying until the day you’re taking the test. There were other times I would read through my practice test the hour before the actual exam just to remind me of the areas I struggled in and terms I needed to remember. Those instances produced much better results than the times I slacked off at the end.

Just remember to always study until the day you take your CLEP test. It’s not worth the risk!
